Cross Country Event
Mon 02 Oct 2017Last Tuesday, Polebrook School attended the Cross Country Cluster Event at Prince William School in Oundle and had a roaring success!
Children from Year 1 to Year 6 represented Polebrook and faced gruelling races along the school field with three uphill challenges. The children refused to give up and supported not just one another but children from other schools too. Each child completed their race and some made it into the top 3! We are so proud of everybody who spent many playtimes training for this event, gave it all they had and were excellent ambassadors for our school.

Year 6 Pupils Perform at Symphony Hall
Tue 18 Jul 2017Year six pupils in the dressing room ahead of their recent appearance at Symphony Hall, Birmingham on July 4th.
The music mentor, well-known music educator and composer Sarah Watts, commented that the original piece they performed, "Some Wild Tales", was very musical, well-structured and 'much enjoyed'. She described their performance as 'delightful' and noted that the children sang and played with 'some real energy'.
Polebrook was the only primary school from Northamptonshire to play in the Infant and Juniors category at the prestigious National Festival of Music for Youth . Our pupils were, as always, a credit to the school not just in their performance but also in their behaviour and confident, positive attitude.

Year 5/6 PGL Residential
Wed 05 Apr 2017Polebrook and Easton Garford School teamed up last week to go on an exciting residential at PGL in Wales. It was full of exciting outdoor activities including abseiling, kayaking, mountain trails and much more!
The children and staff had an amazing time and each day was as full on as the one before. Activities started at 9.20am and finished at approximately 5pm each evening. We stayed on a lovely farm overlooking the Welsh countryside, with a large field which was perfect for playing outdoor games.
The activites were amazing. Some of the children's favourites included: Jacob's ladder, the zipwire and aeroball. Some children (and staff) overcame their fears during the activities and the support for each other to complete each activity was fantastic.
Overall the residential was a tremendous success, the staff at PGL were so impressed with our group that we had a reputation around the site for being one of the best behaved groups! Well donev everybody!

New Beats Concert
Fri 17 Mar 2017Polebrook were very lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy a concert by the New Beats band who are one of the NMPAT recital teams.
The band consisted of musicians playing the drums, bass, guitar, piano and a fantastic singing performing some well known songs whilst asking the children if they spotted any changes they had made to the songs. The children really enjoyed listening to the music and there was certainly some dancing and singing along in the audience!
After the concert, Purple Class attended a workshop with the band where they created their own song using a music app to record vocals and instruments. It was a fantastic experience and we are hoping they return soon!

World Book Day
Fri 10 Mar 2017Many characters visited Polebrook School last week as many children (and staff) dressed up for World Book Day.
There were lots of our favourite book characters as well as some characters who children wished were in stories.
Our activity for the day was to create a story from a piece of music and work in groups of all different age groups to form a book. It was very challenging yet the children came up with some fantastic stories with genres including mystery, suspense, adventure and sci-fi. The children and the staff really enjoyed working with each other and our new stories currently reside in the library for everybody to enjoy.
More photos of World Book Day can be viewed in the Gallery.
