Science

This week Blue Class had fun investigating sounds and vibration. It was interesting to watch the counters bouncing up and down on the drum skin. That’s how we know sound is produced through vibration.

Science and DT

This week Blue Class managed to  “squeeze” in a really fun science and DT lesson. We all enjoyed making, tasting and improving citrus fruit drinks. We found out that making a healthy alternative to commercially produced soft drinks is  easy-peasy lemon-squeezy!!!

Forest School

Blue Class discover their creative side at Forest School this term. Before half term they created 3-dimensional tree faces out of mud and twigs etc found in the forest, and built a new shelter.

This week they designed bird feeders – and we will be considering which designs work the best and which type of food is more popular for the forest inhabitants.

Blue Class at forest school last term having great fun

Blue Class maths

Blue Class get into shape!

In maths this week we’ve been investigating properties of 3D shapes. It was a real challenge making a cube from 2 strips of card; it was even more of a challenge describing the properties of a cube, but good use of maths language helped us. Key words to learn – edge, face, vertex and vertices, opposite and equal.

Where in the World ?

Geography

We really enjoyed devising and playing a game to help us learn countries and their capitals in Europe.

Cluster Orchestra Day

On Thursday 19.11.15 pupils from Blue and Purple Class joined with more than 80 children from other cluster schools for our very  first Orchestra Day. Everyone had a fabulous time and we’re looking forward to our Spring event and concert in June.

Recorders

Blue Class have been learning the recorder this term for their First Access music project. This was our first perfromance. We demonstrated how our lessons include rhythm work as well as learning the recorder. We made an arrangement of  “Joe, Joe, Stumped His Toe” which also involved singing a verse. Everyone gave us a big clap at the end!

Blue Class History

This week we started our History topic about Romans in Britain. Everyone was very excited to find out about how and why the Romans built roads, especially when we got to hold a real piece of Roman road!

Blue Class have gone straight into the world of rocks, minerals and fossils. We’ve had great fun finding, investigating, talking about and explaining some important ideas about rocks.
