This term kicked off with our residential to Rock UK!
All the children had a wonderful time and immersed themselves in lots of new experiences and challenges. They looked after each other and the staff! We were so proud of each and every one of them.
The children have been taking part in lots of sports this term. We had the RLT athletics day, an Olympian visit, the Kids of Steel triathlon and sports day. The children have also been enjoying going swimming and having a cricket coach for their PE sessions.
After all that we still have lots of energy left for our end of term production which we are all working super hard on! We can't wait to share it with you all - Rock Bottom Rocks!
Our big question this term is 'What were the motives for the Roman invasion of Britain?'
For homework to start the term, children had to find out about Roman life in Britain and present their work to the rest of the class. They practiced their speaking and listening skills and really enjoyed learning from each other.
Children have begun exploring the text ‘Queen of Darkness’ as part of their literacy. They have been finding out who was in Britain before the Romans through this text and are going to use it to write a suspense story.
We have been very lucky to borrow some Roman artefacts from Oundle museum to enrich our topic this term and give the children an opportunity to handle and explore real Roman artefacts. They will get to experience what it might be like to be an archaeologist!
They are also going to try and dress their very own Roman soldier later on..…watch this space to see how they got on!
