Castle Building

Our exciting new topic is – What happened at Rockingham Castle?  This historical work builds on from the work completed in reception on traditional tales and fairy tales, where the children became familiar with the setting of a castle through stories.  It follows on from the work in Y1/2 on “Toys”, reflecting changes over time and a sense of chronology beyond living memory.  Here we are working collaboratively and building castles from construction equipment, small world, found materials and large-scale blocks.  Great teamwork everyone!
