Polebrook C E Primary School

Summer 1

Our big question this term is 'How do animals, including humans function?'

In Science the children started the topic by investigating the different types of teeth we have and their functions by using mirrors and playdough.

They then looked at the digestive system and used a pair of tights to show how food travels into the stomach and through the intestines - it was very messy!

The children also looked at food chains and the function of our skeleton and muscles.

In DT this term children have designed and made their own healthy sandwiches. They did some market research to find out what sandwiches people liked and they taste tested some ingredients. They thought about what makes a healthy sandwich and considered where the ingredients have come from as well as allergies.

The children made their own sandwich stand for the Kings Coronation and invited the rest of the school to taste them and give feedback.

We had our Mayday celebrations this term and some of the children did some dancing for the King's Coronation celebrations in the village. They did a fantastic job!

Some of our children have also been to visit the local care home and have been sharing their work and some ukulele playing with the residents.
