Royal Wedding and a Guide to Scotland

Blue Class enjoyed the Royal Wedding picnic lunch. In the afternoon we made cut out figures of visitors cheering the wedding procession and wrote our ideas on the back of what the guests might be hoping the future will bring for the happy couple.

Over the spring half-term Blue Class homework was to find out about Scotland. We shared our work in class and everyone was able to get positive feedback about their work from each other. There were lots of interesting and imaginative ways of presenting information, including some actual tartan and many different ways of using the blue and white colours of the Scottish Saltire!

Science Investigation

Blue Class took advantage of the recent fine weather and used the outdoor facilities to carry out a science investigation. Pupils were aiming to disprove the idea that children with longer legs would be able to jump further. Just as we thought … it’s not true, so it must be your muscles!

Design and Technology Project

Blue Class have been developing their D.T. skills by designing, modelling then constructing a Roman chariot with a fixed axle and rotating wheel. They used K'NEX to model some ideas before adapting their designs so that they could build the chariot using wood, card, paper and other resistant materials. Pupils really enjoyed learning how to safely use tools such as a saw, a paper drill and a bench vice.

An even busier second term in Blue Class.

Completing an interesting research task for homework helped everyone in their class work as they started to plan for the D.T. vehicle challenge.

Being able to use laptop and desk top computers in class gave us a fun way of finding out and trying to remember the names of the countries that make up the continent of Europe.

Some fabulous games made for homework provided a really enjoyable way to use our growing knowledge of European countries, their flags, their capital cities and many other important geographical features. We hope you enjoy these photographs of the happy and very hardworking members of Blue Class!

A busy first term in Blue Class.

Maths games, science investigations and even a class museum! We hope you enjoy these photographs as much as we enjoyed the learning activities.

KS2 Cross Country Competition

On Friday, Purple Class and Blue Class joined together to compete in a inter-school Cross Country Competition.

Each race was split up by Year group except for the final race which was both Year 5 and 6. The children were very excited to compete after weeks of training in PE lessons. They used what they had learnt in lessons about their breathing and pacing themselves to create a fantastic competition. Each race was incredibly close with some children winning by just one second! Miss McBlain and Mr Middleton were so pleased with the effort of everybody who took part - well done!
