2024-2025
RLT Parliament Trip
3 of our Year 6 children were chosen to represent our School as young governors on the annual RLT Trip to Parliament. The said they went to the Houses of Commons and watched a real-life debate with MPs! In the afternoon, they went to a huge room where Henry VIII used to play tennis as historians found a mouldy tennis ball high in the roof (what an amazing fact!). The children said the tour was really impressive and they felt very important walking round. They hope to return one day especially if they can write their own laws!
Science Ambassador Day
2 of our Year 6 children were chosen as Science Ambassadors for Polebrook School and attended a challenge day at Kings Cliffe Primary School. Here the children could earn tokens for showing collaboration, respect and creativity – all key values in Science. I am so pleased to say that Polebrook earned over 20 tokens throughout the day! We also successfully made a cat flap with working alarm, completed an experiment to show opposite forces and worked together to organise a timeline of important scientific events. Our children earned their Science Ambassador badges and received them in Celebration Assembly. We cannot wait for you to inspire others and promote Science across our school!
Children in Need 2024
Once again, Polebrook were amazing at supporting the important charity Children in Need. We focused our outfits around the year's theme of "Light and Bright" - helping to reduce the mental and physical loads children carry with them everyday.
We started off with a whole school active live lesson in the morning completing brain and health boosters. Then, we had our Year 6s running the Children in Need shop whilst also organising different games including a duck race, guess the name and pin the eye on Pudsey! We ended the day with our now famous Polebrook disco which the children (and staff!) thoroughly enjoyed.
With all your help, we raised over £237 - incredible for our small yet passionate school!
Whole School Remembrance Activities
All of our children took part in a Remembrance craft day this week, creating beautiful poppies from recycled bottles (thank you for the donations!) and other craft activities including suncatchers, collage poppies to make a cross and prayers for all those who fought and are currently fighting for our country. Our older children were incredible buddies to our younger pupils, offering support and being fantastic role models. There is a wonderful display outside school – come and have a look!
