Success for MLK class with their Bikeability
Tue 01 Jul 2025Last week, MLK class had their Bikeability training.
This involved four half hour days of training.
Level 1- the training took place on the school playground where they could learn in a traffic-free environment.
Level 2 - they went out on the roads where they learnt to - start and stop with more confidence, pass stationary vehicles parked on a road, understand the road: signals, signs and road markings, negotiate the road: including quiet junctions, crossroads and how to share the road with other vehicles.
All who completed the Bikeability received a certificate, badge and handbook.
Well done to all for all your hard work, this is a great life skill! -
RLT music day
Mon 30 Jun 2025Our Year 6s attended the RLT Music Day at Cottesmore Academy last Friday.
This was an opportunity for our Leavers to come together and celebrate through a range of different activities including sports, dance, music and art. Our children also performed a song to the other schools and had the opportunity to take part in an entire trust choir! There was even a teacher’s choir who also took to the stage!
This day is always so special and fun and it was lovely to see our Year 6s come together for a fun-filled day.

DA class to Rockingham Castle
Thu 26 Jun 2025David Attenborough Class had an unforgettable visit to the historic Rockingham Castle. As they explored the grand old building, the children were able to identify many fascinating features, from arrow slits in the stone walls to towering battlements. They were especially amazed by the impressive castle kitchen and the grand feast on display, which gave them a real sense of how people lived long ago.
Outside, the adventure continued with a stroll past the quirky Elephant Hedge and a peaceful woodland walk. The scent of the blooming rose garden added a magical touch to the day. But the highlight for everyone was definitely the spooky dungeon—dark, cold, and just scary enough to make it thrilling! It was a day full of learning, excitement, and stories they won’t soon forget.

Polebrook Eco Club launched a brand-new eco initiative
Tue 17 Jun 2025This week, Polebrook Eco Club launched a brand-new eco initiative — setting up a composting wormery!
Eco were fascinated as they learned how worms can help turn food waste into nutrient-rich compost.
With excitement and curiosity, they explored how the wormery works and how it can make a real difference to our environment.
Classroom food waste bins are now being used to collect suitable scraps, which will be fed to the worms regularly. The children are taking an active role in monitoring the process, eager to see how their leftovers can become something useful for the garden.
The project has sparked great enthusiasm, with children looking forward to taking care of the worms and embracing this new eco-challenge.
It’s a small step that’s making a big impact — teaching responsibility, sustainability, and the power of nature’s recyclers!

SW's amazing residential trip
Mon 16 Jun 2025SW class had a fantastic few days away at the Frontier centre last week.
We went climbing and the children were so brave making it all the way to the top!
We did some archery and canoeing - lots of us got very, very wet!
We also did some bushcraft and learnt how to make fires and dens.
The children also learnt that charcoal was very good for the skin and we had some very interesting charcoal facemasks!
The children were great at supporting and encouraging each other, especially when bed making proved to be a lot more challenging than expected.
Staff were treated to some very interesting performances for room inspection time and quite enjoyed waking all the children up on the last day!
Everyone was amazing and we even got a thank you from the chef for being so polite and well mannered.
A huge well done everyone! 😊
