  • The Great Fire of London in DA Class

    Thu 11 Jul 2024

This week in David Attenborough class we finished our fabulous learning on 'The Great Fire of London'!

We have all loved this history inspired topic and have found out so much about this famous period. The children (and parents) created the most fantastic houses inspired by the 1666 timber-framed homes as part of a homework project and on Tuesday Angus helped to pack those houses tightly together to create Pudding Lane. It was really exciting and whilst the houses were burning the children sang ‘London’s Burning’. We watched as the flames started at Thomas Farriner's Bakery, before spreading along the street... Luckily Samuel Pepys' house survived (along with his cheese and wine!). What a brilliant day we had!

  • The magic of Science for our KS2!

    Mon 08 Jul 2024

On Friday, Year 3, 4 and 5 were treated to an amazing science show as part of the Oundle stem week.
We were amazed at how static electricity could make an object levitate, how chemical reactions could make containers fly into the air and we learnt about the science behind how aeroplanes fly using a toilet roll!
We also had a sneaky peek into some magic tricks and how they worked using science.
It was a wonderful and inspiring morning!

  • Anglo-Saxon day for SW class

    Wed 03 Jul 2024

Stevie Wonder class had a fantastic day yesterday when they met Arthur the Anglo-Saxon.

He taught them battle tactics and they got to hold and explore real weapons.

They played Anglo-Saxon board games and experienced being archaeologists.

The end of the day finished with a Witan which is where they had to make some important decisions to protect their people. Unfortunately, we made some really bad ones and would have ended up fleeing to the marshes while the Vikings invaded!

It was a great way to bring the children’s learning to life and one we will all remember!

  • Team spirit at school sports day

    Tue 02 Jul 2024

Last Thursday was the school’s sports day and the temperature was just perfect after a few hot days.

To start the proceedings, the children paraded out to the Rocky theme tune ‘Eye of the Tiger’

All the children tried really hard to win points for their house and the team spirit was amazing.

The races included a mini marathon, javelin, long jump, bean bag and a favourite but tricky, egg and spoon race!

Even some of our new children in September had a race, with big smiles on their faces.

The final scores were so close but slightly ahead on the day was St Andrews.

Well done to everyone of you for taking part and to FOPS for their amazing refreshments provided for the parents and for the ice lollies for all our tired athletes 😊
