  • World Book Day 2020

    Thu 05 Mar 2020

What an amazing effort all of our children (and parents) made for World Book Day 2020 here at Polebrook.

It has been a fun packed activity day.

In assembly, the teachers shared with children which story they are going to be reading at the end of the day so that they can choose which one to attend.

Later in the morning was the Big Book Swap
Red Class swapped with Blue Class
Green Class swapped with Purple Class
This gave the children the opportunity to share a book with a child in another class, talk about it and read a section to them!

Then the children who received this month's Headteacher's Hot Chocolate award spent their time chatting about their reading with her whilst enjoying a drink.

Lunchtime the library and KS2 reading corners were open to share reading

At the end of the day all coming together in the hall to get ready for ‘Sharing a story

  • Blue class have a science class with a difference

    Tue 03 Mar 2020

Wow! What an amazing science lesson the children from Blue Class had yesterday. Bugtopia came in to school with a number of creatures for the children to learn about and hold! These included a giant African millipede, Madagascan hissing cockroach, African stick insect and a tarantula.

The children were totally engaged with learning all about these creepy creatures and this set them up for continuing their investigations into bug life in our playground as they went off hunting for bugs and describe their habitats.

The children were joined by Glapthorn children and the whole group worked amazingly together and new friends made ahead of the residential in May.

Thank you to all our parents in supporting this ‘hands on’ learning for our children.
