RLT Christmas choir
Fri 12 Dec 2025On Monday some of our KS2 children joined all the other Rutland Learning Trust schools at Oakham church for a Christmas carol service.
The children sang beautifully and were truly amazing. They bought lots of Christmas joy and we were all certainly ready for Christmas by the end! -
Christingle
Fri 05 Dec 2025Yesterday our children made their Christingle candles before taking part in the Christingle service at church.
A lovely time was had by all although the sweets were very tempting to many!
- The orange symbolises the world.
- The red ribbon shows God's love for the world and the blood of Jesus.
- The sweets represent God's creations.
- The four cocktail sticks can represent either the four seasons or the four corners of the world.
- The candle represents Jesus being the light of the world, bringing hope to those in darkness.

Cyber awareness day
Wed 03 Dec 2025Last week, two of our Year 5 pupils took part in a two day activity along with other children from RLT schools to film a play about online safety.
They all had different roles in the play demonstrating Cyber Awareness.
The children showed great respect, confidence and creativity to work with the producers to develop a Cyberwise video.
They were true ambassadors of Polebrook School.
In January, clips of the play will start to be released to demonstrate safety awareness.
We cannot wait to see the finished videos.

Trip to the National Space Centre
Fri 28 Nov 2025On Monday, MILK class took a trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester.
The purpose of our trip was to consolidate our learning of our Earth and Space unit from Term 1.
There were lots of hands on experiences where the children could experience mission control, taking off in a rocket and even test their skills ready to become an astronaut. The children tested their heart rate whilst climbing up over 150 steps to reach the top of the rocket, this was not for the faint hearted!
We finished our day with a rest in the planetarium where we took a trip to the various planets in our solar system putting our knowledge of the planets to the test.
It was a fabulous day and the children represented Polebrook incredibly well.

Cross Country for MLK
Fri 17 Oct 2025A huge well done to our cross country team from Year 5 and 6 who participated in the RLT cross country tournament at Catsmore College yesterday.
The distance was for Year 5 - 1.8km and for Year 6 - 2km
The children had an opportunity to watch the first races and observe and judge the distance and whilst doing this they were clapping and encouraging other runners from other schools.
The distance for some was daunting but the positive attitude and ‘give it a go’ was truly impressive to see.
All the pupils participating had a great time.
Well done Team Polebrook, we are really proud of you

KS2 perform 'The School-O-Vision Song Contest'
Thu 10 Jul 2025The past two days our KS2 wowed audiences with the end of year performance of 'The School-O-Vision Song Contest' A comical take on the song contest using school characters.
In true Eurovision style we had our own 'Graham Norty' who was in charge of the contest with support from Nell Points, Björn Yisturdy who had his own Translator.
The Rabble made an appearance following their win 50 years ago.
Then the 'school contest' started with
The PTA, performing as ‘Parent Power’
The Premises Officers, performing ‘The Mop Tops’
The Teachers, performing as ‘Hot Coffee’ with staff room security!
The Kitchen Staff, performing as ‘Haute Cuisine’
The Reception Class, performing as ‘Tiny T & The Chaos Crew’
The Year 6 gang, performing as ‘The Be-Leavers’
The children were all amazing and sounded fantastic and great to have the Year 6s performing together for the final time.
Well done to all the performers and a big thank you to the staff for putting together such an entertaining show.
