Summer 1

How do seeds disperse?

The children explored different methods of seed disperal and disected a flower to look at the different parts and functions. They grew some beans for our school garden in different liquids and discovered that water and tea were the best. Unfortunately our investgation revealed that plants don't like coke or milk very much! The children ended the topic by inventing their own plants and making models of them using all of the knowledge they had gained during the topic.

In literacy, the children have been reading the text Leaf by Sandra Diekmann. They then wrote their own narrative about being lost.

In art, the children explored cyanotypes and created their own using plants from our forest school area.

In computing, the children used Audacity and created an audiobook of their lost narrative. These were put onto a CD for each child to take home and they used their art as their front cover. They were incredibly proud of them - they were fantastic!
