Cross Country Competition 2018
Mon 01 Oct 2018Last week over 30 pupils of Polebrook School, went to Prince William School to compete in the cluster Cross Country Competition and were very successful!
All children tried their best in each race from Year 1's competing all the way up to Year 6 children giving it their all! Each race was incredibly challenging with all pupils needing to complete at least one lap of the enormous PWS field. Every child completed their race and didn't give up at any point. It was lovely to see the children supporting not only each other but pupils from other schools too.
As always Polebrook were amazing with two children coming 1st, one 2nd and lots of others in the top 10 - well done everybody!

Kids of Steel Triathlon KS2
Mon 17 Sep 2018Last Friday, both Purple and Blue Class attended the TATA Kids of Steel Triathlon in Corby. It was a fantastic event where schools in the local area were able to come together to take part in three different activities in a fun, non-competitive event.
Both classes were excited to swim, cycle and run around the track at Corby Swimming Pool. It was amazing to see all children taking part and thoroughly enjoying themselves. All children were very well behaved and as always were excellent ambassadors of Polebrook School. At the end of the event, each child was given a Kids of Steel T-shirt and medal for taking part. The children wore both with pride all day and cannot wait to do it again!

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to:
- The Sports Crew.
- All the children who have competed this year in our intra and inter competitions.
- Parents who have supported and provided transport.
There is a sport out there for everyone!

KS2 Northampton Saints Visit
Fri 15 Jun 2018On Friday, the whole of KS2 went on a trip to the Northampton Saints stadium to take part in a range of rugby games and for a tour of the grounds.
We were met by one of the coaches (who also plays for the Hearing impaired England Rugby team) and he took us out to the Saints training grounds where the children’s athleticism was to put the test as they played a range of rugby games. It was fantastic to see every child taking part and every child had a part to play in each activity.
After a morning of games and lunch, we were taken on a tour of the Northampton Saints grounds and we were able to sit in the most expensive box in the stadium, visit away both the away and home team changing rooms, trophy room and the gym that the players use when in training – it was here we met player Tom Wood!
The staff at Northampton Saints were so incredibly welcoming and accommodating, both children and staff thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the trip. The coach was really enthusiastic and determined to make sure every child left with a smile on their face – which they all did! We can’t wait to return in the future!

Swimming Gala 2017/2018
Mon 04 Jun 2018Just before half term, members of Blue and Purple Class took part in the annual Year 5/6 Swimming Gala held at Corby Swimming Pool.
The Gala includes schools from all across Northamptonshire and a total of 16 schools attended this year. Each school chose a team of 8 and children competed in races. Our team spent weeks preparing for the Gala by attending training sessions with Mrs Speirs and Mrs Johnson at Oundle Pool. As a school we did very well indeed, especially with some of our team being Year 4 pupils! The team were excellent ambassadors of Polebrook and we can't wait to go again next year!

Blue Class Learn about the Muslim Faith
Thu 10 May 2018Blue Class had an inspirational trip to Faizan E Madina Mosque in Peterbrough.
Learning about other world faiths is an important element of the RE curriculum and external visits provide context for the children and enrich their learning experience.
The children enjoyed learning about the ways Muslims worship and the similarities between their religious customs and our own. The building was beautiful with colourful and rich decoration throughout. The children enjoyed meeting the Imam who welcomed us and acted as our guide throughout the tour.

Green Class learn about Shabbat
Thu 29 Mar 2018Green Class enjoyed a wonderful Shabbat experience as part of our RE topic.
Our visitor, Lynne Gremson came and taught us all about how she and her family celebrate Shabbat and what it represents. The children had fun doing a variety of activities including setting their own Shabbat table listening to blessings, eating Challah bread and drinking grape juice.
It was an unforgettable morning and we learnt a lot about Judaism.
