  • Brass morning at school

    Wed 30 Jan 2019

What a lovely treat our children had this morning.

We had visitors to school from the NMPAT Brass Team for a musical recital.

The musicians played some fun pieces and the children got to learn all about the different instruments and sounds they make.

Our current brass players got to create an instrument using a mouth piece, sections of hosepipe and a funnel!

Then a number of children got to have a go making a sound with a mouth piece and hose with the rest of the audience acting as the percussion.

A great time was had by all and inspired many current and future brass players.

Thank you to the NMPAT Brass Recital team for an inspiring morning.

  • Christmas Journey at Polebrook Church

    Fri 07 Dec 2018

On Tuesday 4th December each class went on a trip to Polebrook Church to experience the special journeys made by Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and the wise men in the Christmas story.

Rev Cathy and Mrs Price led the children around the different decorated stations of the Christmas story, explaining what happened and answering questions whilst the children collected a little reminder of the story in their individual bags.

There were also a few prayer spaces for the children to think about their hopes and dreams, and anything they need help with this Christmas, which are now displayed in the entrance hall of the school.

Everyone enjoyed the experience immensely and we hope to do similar with the Easter story.

  • Purple Class visit the Tutankhamun exhibition

    Fri 09 Nov 2018

Yesterday, Purple Class were transported back to ancient times as we explored the findings of Tutankhamun’s infamous tomb at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

The trip include a workshop where the children made replicas of artefacts that were found inside Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus and a self-guided tour around the exhibit.

The entire exhibit was over two floors and full of video footage from the historical discovery by Howard Carter as well as maps and descriptions for everything that was found. We were all mesmerised and overwhelmed at the treasures and some couldn’t believe the artefacts were real! All children were true ambassadors of Polebrook, their behaviour was outstanding and we were so proud to watch them going round the exhibit looking amazed.

Thank you so much for parents and FOPs for this incredible opportunity that will be with the children (and adults) forever!

  • Lest we forget

    Fri 09 Nov 2018
  • Green and Red class have a visit from 'People who Help'

    Wed 07 Nov 2018

What an exciting day it was for our Red and Green Class. Supporting our topic of 'People who help', we were visited by firemen in a fire engine from Oundle station.

The children had a short presentation first and some of the children got to try on the uniform.

Then the children all put their coats on to go outside and each child had a go sitting in the fire engine and a really special treat, they all got to squirt water from the hose.

Then it was time to say goodbye and the children all waved the fireman and the fire engine off whilst it had it's siren and blue lights on.

A huge thank you very much to Oundle Fire and Rescue Service for your wonderful visit and supporting our topic.

  • Victorian School for Blue Class

    Fri 02 Nov 2018

Before half term, Blue class enjoyed going back in time to Victorian School. We all looked the part in our Victorian outfits.

During the morning we had lessons in reading, writing and arithmetic. We wrote on slates and used ink pens to practice  handwriting, luckily no one had to wear the dunces hat!

In the afternoon we made Victorian toys and we even got to try gruel!
