  • Christmas Journey at Polebrook Church

    Fri 07 Dec 2018

On Tuesday 4th December each class went on a trip to Polebrook Church to experience the special journeys made by Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and the wise men in the Christmas story.

Rev Cathy and Mrs Price led the children around the different decorated stations of the Christmas story, explaining what happened and answering questions whilst the children collected a little reminder of the story in their individual bags.

There were also a few prayer spaces for the children to think about their hopes and dreams, and anything they need help with this Christmas, which are now displayed in the entrance hall of the school.

Everyone enjoyed the experience immensely and we hope to do similar with the Easter story.

  • Children in Need 2018

    Fri 16 Nov 2018

Polebrook supported Children in Need this year with 'spotacular' day full of events to help raise money!

Everyone arrived in an array of different outfits from spotty dresses, onesies, facepaint and lots of other Pudsey inspired clothes! Classes completed their own Children in Need activities in classrooms while the playground was transformed at playtime and lunchtime with lots of different games, fun competitions and a merchandise stall ran by Purple Class.

Overall Polebrook School managed to raise a huge £296.54 in just one day! It was a tremendous effort by all and really fun day for a great cause.

  • Purple Class visit the Tutankhamun exhibition

    Fri 09 Nov 2018

Yesterday, Purple Class were transported back to ancient times as we explored the findings of Tutankhamun’s infamous tomb at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

The trip include a workshop where the children made replicas of artefacts that were found inside Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus and a self-guided tour around the exhibit.

The entire exhibit was over two floors and full of video footage from the historical discovery by Howard Carter as well as maps and descriptions for everything that was found. We were all mesmerised and overwhelmed at the treasures and some couldn’t believe the artefacts were real! All children were true ambassadors of Polebrook, their behaviour was outstanding and we were so proud to watch them going round the exhibit looking amazed.

Thank you so much for parents and FOPs for this incredible opportunity that will be with the children (and adults) forever!

  • Lest we forget

  • Green and Red class have a visit from 'People who Help'

    Wed 07 Nov 2018

What an exciting day it was for our Red and Green Class. Supporting our topic of 'People who help', we were visited by firemen in a fire engine from Oundle station.

The children had a short presentation first and some of the children got to try on the uniform.

Then the children all put their coats on to go outside and each child had a go sitting in the fire engine and a really special treat, they all got to squirt water from the hose.

Then it was time to say goodbye and the children all waved the fireman and the fire engine off whilst it had it's siren and blue lights on.

A huge thank you very much to Oundle Fire and Rescue Service for your wonderful visit and supporting our topic.

  • Victorian School for Blue Class

    Fri 02 Nov 2018

Before half term, Blue class enjoyed going back in time to Victorian School. We all looked the part in our Victorian outfits.

During the morning we had lessons in reading, writing and arithmetic. We wrote on slates and used ink pens to practice  handwriting, luckily no one had to wear the dunces hat!

In the afternoon we made Victorian toys and we even got to try gruel!

  • Purple Class visit The Space Centre

    Mon 15 Oct 2018

Last week, Purple Class went on a fantastic trip to the Leicester Space Centre.

During the trip, the children got to experience what life is like for an astronaut in the Sir Patrick Moore 360 degree planetarium, travel around the planets, explore the universe and examine real life rockets and moon rock!

These are just a few of the incredible things the children experienced. As always the children were great ambassadors of Polebrook and most children can’t wait to go back to the centre in their own time.

  • Cross Country Competition 2018

    Mon 01 Oct 2018

Last week over 30 pupils of Polebrook School, went to Prince William School to compete in the cluster Cross Country Competition and were very successful!

All children tried their best in each race from Year 1's competing all the way up to Year 6 children giving it their all! Each race was incredibly challenging with all pupils needing to complete at least one lap of the enormous PWS field. Every child completed their race and didn't give up at any point. It was lovely to see the children supporting not only each other but pupils from other schools too.

As always Polebrook were amazing with two children coming 1st, one 2nd and lots of others in the top 10 - well done everybody!

  • Kids of Steel Triathlon KS2

    Mon 17 Sep 2018

Last Friday, both Purple and Blue Class attended the TATA Kids of Steel Triathlon in Corby. It was a fantastic event where schools in the local area were able to come together to take part in three different activities in a fun, non-competitive event.

Both classes were excited to swim, cycle and run around the track at Corby Swimming Pool. It was amazing to see all children taking part and thoroughly enjoying themselves. All children were very well behaved and as always were excellent ambassadors of Polebrook School. At the end of the event, each child was given a Kids of Steel T-shirt and medal for taking part. The children wore both with pride all day and cannot wait to do it again!
