Polebrook Eco Club launched a brand-new eco initiative
Tue 17 Jun 2025This week, Polebrook Eco Club launched a brand-new eco initiative — setting up a composting wormery!
Eco were fascinated as they learned how worms can help turn food waste into nutrient-rich compost.
With excitement and curiosity, they explored how the wormery works and how it can make a real difference to our environment.
Classroom food waste bins are now being used to collect suitable scraps, which will be fed to the worms regularly. The children are taking an active role in monitoring the process, eager to see how their leftovers can become something useful for the garden.
The project has sparked great enthusiasm, with children looking forward to taking care of the worms and embracing this new eco-challenge.
It’s a small step that’s making a big impact — teaching responsibility, sustainability, and the power of nature’s recyclers!

SW's amazing residential trip
Mon 16 Jun 2025SW class had a fantastic few days away at the Frontier centre last week.
We went climbing and the children were so brave making it all the way to the top!
We did some archery and canoeing - lots of us got very, very wet!
We also did some bushcraft and learnt how to make fires and dens.
The children also learnt that charcoal was very good for the skin and we had some very interesting charcoal facemasks!
The children were great at supporting and encouraging each other, especially when bed making proved to be a lot more challenging than expected.
Staff were treated to some very interesting performances for room inspection time and quite enjoyed waking all the children up on the last day!
Everyone was amazing and we even got a thank you from the chef for being so polite and well mannered.
A huge well done everyone! 😊

A wonderful memorable May Day
Fri 23 May 2025Typical English weather was not on our side yesterday for our May Day celebrations. I think it was the coldest day we have had in a while and parents were wrapped up in coats and blankets (and one even had a hot water bottle!) but at least it stayed dry!
But that did not deter our hardy children in all their beautiful summer outfits from shining.
They entertained us with their singing, remembered all their dances and all had a wonderful time.
Huge thanks must go to our amazing families working behind the scenes with the flower decorations and sound system etc.
Another wonderful memorable May day at Polebrook Primary School
