Welcome to

Polebrook C E Primary School

2020 - 2021

In order to celebrate Lent, we completed activities sent to us from Rev. Cathy.

Some of these activities including creating value crosses - thinking about Jesus who died for us on the cross, candles showing how we can be the light in darkness and an Easter tree full of prayers and thank yous.

Hello Yellow Day!

On Friday 9th October, Polebrook celebrated Hello Yellow day - a day dedicated to supporting the mental health of young minds.

We came dressed in yellow and spent the day promoting positive thinking and sharing ways we can look after our minds. Parents also donated generously to this important cause.

Purple Class also created a positive thoughts jar which is full of wonderful quotes that the children have created - we share each one a day and try our hardest to listen to it!

An Evacuee's Suitcase

After looking at the events of the Blitz on our World War 2 topic timeline, we have now come to the evacuation of children and essential workers to the countryside.

Today we looked at an Evacuee's suitcase with some items they may have packed and taken with them.

The Blitz

After learning about how World War 2 started, Purple Class learnt about the tragic time of The Blitz. We have watched videos of people sharing their memories of living through this time and radio recordings from BBC reporters. To create our fantastic artwork of the London skyline on fire from bombs being dropped, we researched famous buildings in London and studied photos from 1940.

Christmas Card Designs

This year, our Christmas Card design is a stained glass window - inspired by the windows in our Polebrook village church.

The children researched a variety of different windows and then used geometric shapes to create their own design. Our drafts were completed in pen and then we challenged ourselves to use paint in the final design.

The design was completed with a Christmas silhouette.

We are thrilled with the end results, they look fantastic!
