PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTION

At Polebrook School we have provision for three (3) parent governors on our Governing Board.  Parent governors are chosen by election from amongst the parents or carers of children currently on role at the school and the term of office for a parent governor is 4 years.  One (1) parent governor position has recently become vacant.  We are therefore seeking expressions of interest from parents or carers of pupils in the school who would be willing to stand for election.

The role of Governor is an important one.  The Governing Board, with the headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school. Governing Boards have three core strategic functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
