Polebrook C of E Primary School

Green Class has new arrivals.

Since half term Mrs Wilcoxson and Green Class have been waiting for a very important delivery.  Every day we have been looking out for the postman. Finally on Thursday lunchtime our special package arrived.

Five tiny black specks in a plastic tub with holes in

On closer inspection, you will find that the black specks are tiny wriggling caterpillars. They are self-sufficient in their container with food but are growing fast.

By Tuesday this week they have more than quadrupled in size..

We are looking forward to watching them continue to grow and then create their cocoons. More pictures to follow as soon as we have news.

Friday 12th June

The caterpillars are getting enormous now and we are expecting them to make their cocoons very soon.

Tuesday 16th June

We arrived at school today to find out that 3 of the 5 caterpillars were making cocoons!

Wednesday 17th June

All the caterpillars are now in their cocoons so we carefully transferred them over to their net ready for when they emerge as butterflies.
